Hello, I am Sarah Matthews a Textile Surface Design graduate of Buckinghamshire New University.

As a designer I have a passion for paper manipulation. During my degree I explored cutting, folding, creasing, slotting, and pleating, which I combined with hand drawn pattern to create a collection of waterproof and tear-proof tyvek paper jewellery, combining a physically manipulated surface with digitally manipulated hand drawn patterns, which were printed onto tyvek.

After graduating I entered the 'Gift of Christmas' competition run by New Designers' sponsor company Tigerprint, the sole supplier or cards, wrapping and christmas products to Marks and Spencer, with the brief of designing a Christmas product to be sold in Marks and Spencer. I achieved second place and highly commended for my entries, and following the competition I completed a design internship at Tigerprint where I designed a range of products based around my competition entry designs.

Since graduating I have also helped out at laser cut stationary company Cutture, worked as a freelance studio assistant at Tracy Kendall Wallpaper, and assisted paper engineer Helen Friel in both studio work and in running a series of paper workshops for the staff at award winning print company Moo, as well as completing a jewellery production internship at Tatty Devine, and working as 'design assistant' intern at paper jewellery design company Saloukee. I am currently back at Tatty Devine working as a jewellery production assistant.
